ANNOUNCEMENTS

Madrid, November 5, 2025

Dear Colleagues:

We are delighted to share with you the exciting news that AIBR (Network of Iberoamerican Anthropologists), in collaboration with the University of Burgos will be hosting the 12th AIBR International Conference of Anthropology. The conference is scheduled to take place in Burgos, Spain, September 1-4, 2026.

Building on the success of the 11th AIBR Conference held in Santander (Spain), which saw participation from over 500 attendees, both in person and online, we invite you to participate in this new edition of the AIBR Conference, which will once again bring together students and professionals from around the world who are dedicated to research in anthropology and related sciences.

AIBR is honored to have the support and partnership of the Faculty of Law of the University of Burgos (Spain). The 12th AIBR meeting will take place at its facilities.

The chosen theme is:

HERITAGE, CHANGE, and RESISTANCE

The AIBR Conference welcomes the opportunity for anthropological discourse and the exploration of highly pertinent subjects in these times of great social complexity and constant contradiction.

We are experiencing a chronic change in our culture, our way of being, our way of communicating, and our relationships between generations. How do we deal with this from our human essence? How do we understand it from each of our fields of study? What values remain? What resistance arises?

These and numerous other questions are certain to take centre stage during the 12th Conference, fostering engaging discussions and insights.

All the information is available on the 12th Conference website: https://2026.aibr.org/en/.

Please, pay special attention to the calendar and relevant dates for the submission of proposals and registration, which you will find in detail at: https://2026.aibr.org/en/relevant-dates/.

Please remember that in order to register for the AIBR Conference, you must have an ARIES account: https://aries.aibr.org/login.   See Announcement 2

12th AIBR International Conference of Anthropology

Madrid, November 5, 2025

Dear colleagues:

As you are surely aware, in 2024 we launched a new phase to integrate all AIBR Association activities into the ARIES Ibero-American Anthropology Yearbook portal: https://aries.aibr.org/.

This important news brought with it some changes, one of the most significant being that in order to register for the AIBR Conference, you must have an ARIES account. You can access it from this link: https://aries.aibr.org/login.

Once inside the ARIES user space, you will find several sections, including the Conference section. With just one click, you will access your conference area, where you can easily register by following the instructions. The application will instantly offer you the possibility of submitting both panels and the rest of the proposals included at the Conference: free communications, workshops, special formats, posters, audiovisuals, and book presentations.

1.-If you already have an ARIES account (because you are a member of AIBR, because you have already included articles or other contributions in ARIES, etc.), you can access the Conference space directly from it.

Please always use the same email address to access ARIES and for all your interactions with the 12thConference application, in order to avoid duplication and errors in the records that would slow down all processes.

2.- If you do not have an ARIES account, you can get one for free at: https://aries.aibr.org/inscribirse, selecting the option: FREE.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that, as in previous editions of the AIBR Conference, proposals must be submitted exclusively through the Conference’s online application. Please review the Rules for Submitting Proposals on the website.

We would like to thank you once again for your support and understanding. We trust that you will excuse any inconveniences that may arise.

If you have any questions regarding registration or the submission of proposals for the 12th AIBR Conference, please write to us at info.congreso@aibr.org .We will be happy to assist you.

Best regards,

Organizing Committee
